What We Believe In

Our service can be accessed through Placing Authorities and are intended to enable the children and young adults to live lives, which are as normal as possible, and to support their families to continue to be as fully involved in their lives as practically possible.

At John Edwards Care Homes Ltd the staff work in close partnership with parents and families of children and young adults who stay with us. This helps to ensure that we have all the information we need in order to keep the children and young adults safe and happy. Families are always involved in decisions about the care their child or young adult receives while staying at Buttons or Bows.

We believe that all service user’s, whatever their ability to communicate, have a right to be treated as individuals, to make choices, to have their views and wishes listened to and to be able to influence what happens to them in line with the governments white paper, Valuing People: A New Strategy for Learning Disability for the 21st Century.

Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication (PEC) and the Widget programmes are widely used with in John Edwards Care Homes Ltd.

Staff also receives regular training to ensure they have the skills to encourage all types of communication with the individuals.
